Mountain bike tires how important are they
Bike tires, unlike car tires, lose their pressure on a daily basis, so its necessary to check their pressure daily and reinflate when necessary. A few days ago, I was driving happily along the highway, heading home from a run to a bookstore. A passing motorist honked at me and then pointed toward my car as if there were something wrong with it. I nodded and waved and slowed down, and they passed me. However, my car was behaving as it always had... there was no "pull" or rough riding to indicate that I had a flat tire. So, since I was only ten minutes from home I just kept on driving - albeit more slowly. My mind being what it is, as soon as I pulled into the driveway I forgot all about the reason why I had been driving slowly for the last ten minutes, and just walked into the house. The next day, I got into the car and had driven out of my apartment parking lot toward the access road for the main drag, before remembering that there was supposedly something wrong with one of the tires. So I returned to the parking lot, got out, and looked at my tires. The rear left was as flat as a pancake. I couldn't have driven home with it like that - it surely would have effected the handling of the car. So yesterday the tire must simply have been low, and continued going flat over night. My dad, who had witnessed my return, asked me if I didn't check the tires before I got behind the wheel every single time, and I confessed that I didn't. I've been driving for years and years and never had a flat tire before, so why bother? But I learned my lesson from that little incident, and now I take a few seconds and check the tires before leaving. And that little story brings me to the point of this essay, which is that before you get on your bike - there are various things you should check to make sure you'll have a safe ride. Indeed, in spite of my carelessness with my car tires, I always had and always will check my bicycle tire pressure before setting off on a ride. The more so because I have had a couple of flat tires with that bike over the five years that I've owned it. Tire pressure is important for cars, because if a tire blows while the car is traveling at high speed that's a heavy piece of machinery that will go out of control. But it's just as important for bicyclists, because since you have to use your own power to muscle along the bike, flat tires will effect your ride from the very beginning. And if you're far away from home when the tire gives up the ghost, you could find yourself with a long walk home. There's no difficulty in knowing how many pounds of pressure need to be put into your bike tires - the manufacturer puts those specifications on the side of each tire. Get yourself a tire gauge and always use it when you inflate your tires. However, although you won't want to exceed the pounds per square inch that they recommend, there are reasons why you'd sometimes want to use less. With a tire inflated to the correct pressure, your ride will be as smooth as the quality of your frame will allow it. If your tires aren't inflated enough it increases the chance of getting a flat tire, but more importantly makes it harder to pedal. Too high of pressure will strain the tire itself, not to mention making the ride too bumpy to be comfortable. Bike tires lose their pressure on a regular basis, so before starting out on your ride, always squeeze both front and back tires to ensure that they are hard. Mountain bikers do like their tires "mushier" than other bikers, and if that applies to you just become familiar with what the appropriate tire pressure for you looks and feels like.

Golf brief overview
Golf is an exciting game and it definitely gives lot of relaxation to a person when it is played as a hobby. This game has gained a lot of popularity now compared to what it was a few years back - thanks to the media. Like any other game, golf also has lot of rules to be followed in tournaments. By watching a tournament, one cannot understand the rules of the game. To a certain extent, even a nonprofessional can understand the rules of games like cricket, football etc. However, it is not easy in golf. Let us see some of the rules of the game. Neither the player nor the caddie can influence the position or movement of the ball or the teeing ground. For any breach of rules pertaining to this, the player incurs a penalty. In match play for breach of rules, the penalty is loss of a hole as otherwise mentioned. If a competitor does not follow the rules and thereby affecting the rights of another player, will be disqualified. In stroke play, usually penalty for breach of rule is two strokes as other wise mentioned. There are number of rules, which govern the players equipments like the clubs, balls etc. Golfer’s clubs as a whole should conform to the standards stipulated by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Various rules govern the shaft, the grip, the club head, the clubface etc. Alterations cannot be made to any of the above. No modifications can be made which will influence the movement of the ball. Any breach of this can lead to disqualification. A player can carry fourteen clubs in a tournament. In case, he starts the game with less number of clubs, he can add to it during the course of the play until the total becomes fourteen. Two players cannot share clubs, unless they are partners in the game. Golf ball should also conform to specifications with regard to the size, weight, spherical symmetry, initial velocity etc.. If the ball is cut or cracked, it is declared unfit to play. A player can change his ball if he feels it is not fit to play; he can do so after announcing his intention to change the ball giving valid reason for the change. Each player’s ball will bear an identification mark. A person who records the scores of the competitors is a marker, appointed by the committee. A player is entitled for only one caddie, and he is bound by the rules of the game. Any breach of rule by the caddie will result in the player-incurring penalty. Any advice with regard to the nature of stroke or club to be used is not allowed from anybody else other than partners or caddie. Any consultation with regard to the hazards or position of hole or flagstick is not deemed as seeking advice. However, in a team game each team is permitted to appoint a captain or coach who can advice the players on the line of play. Any such appointment should be intimated to the committee before start of play. After the initial stroke, the ball shall be played as it lies. Player cannot make any alterations either to the ball or to the playing area. In the course of the play if the player finds tree branches or any other immovable material obstructing his way, he cannot break the branches or move anything from his way. There are rules governing every aspect of the game and any breach of the rules resulting in penalty either by way of losing holes or by way of adding strokes or being disqualified.

Record setting season for us men s sabre
The race to Olympic qualification is like the Indy 500. The race is a rolling start where you get to carry the momentum from prior tournaments into the race. In terms of Olympic qualification, things are looking good for the US Men's Sabre team as they are off to a torrid pace for the first half of the 2007 World Cup Season. With 3 world team events remaining, the US team ranks 8th in the world and is the top team from the Americas zone, both of which would qualify the US team for the Olympics if the selection were today. In the most recent Men's Sabre world cup event, Tim Morehouse took silver in his loss to world #2 Julien Pillet by one point, 15-14, in the final match. That placement vaulted Morehouse into the top-32 in the world individual rankings where he joins his 3 teammates. When commenting on the team's success, Morehouse says, "We have had 6 world cups in a row with an American in the top-8 at least and 3 with an American in the top-4. Ivan Lee third in Istanbul, Jason Rogers third in Bulgaria and yself being 2nd in Algeria. We have never done this before. The only run similar was Keeth by himself in 2003-2004 season when he went to #1 with 4 or 5 top 4s in a row. This is now new territory for us. For the first time in history we also have 4 Americans in the top 32." Final placement during the 2007 season and performance at the 2007 World Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia will set the stage for the Olympic qualifying season. Every team is now jockying for position to make sure they have the easiest path during the 2007-2008 season to qualify for the Beijing Games. Once again, the US team is making sure that it is in the running.

Custom lowriders take the cycling world by storm
The lowrider bicycle is all about making a fashion statement. A statement of personality. The lowrider bike is also known as a "Chopper" or "Muscle Bike." It's just about the most distinctive bike out there - no so much because of the design, although that's eye-catching enough, but also because of what the owners do to their bikes once they get them. What does a lowrider look like? Picture a Harley Davidson motorcycle, then take away the motor. The handgrips of the lowrider are the highest part of the bike, and the seat of the bike is down at wheel level. Sometimes the pedals are higher than the seats! Lowriding first became popular among the Chicano American community, but now their popularity has spilled over into most urban areas. Dozens of lowriding clubs have been formed. Lowriders also refer to cars (which also started out in the Chicano American community) and there are lots of contents between car enthusiasts to see who has created the best ridepetitions for lowrider bikers will surely not be far behind. Once you've got a lowrider you've got to give it a custom paint job - from handpainted murals to all kinds of color schemes. Whitewall tires, custom upholstery, chrome rims...the whole range of exotic accessories lies before the new lowrider owner. Each lowrider is a unique piece of art - that's part of its appeal. Aztlan, located in Chino Hills, California, is the number one lowrider bike manufacturer in the world, and if you check out their website you'll see the full range of lowriders available - before you get them home and start working on them so that they reflect your personality. The Aztlan Lowrider Cruiser retails for $120, and consists of the lowrider frame, and wheels, a bent spring fork, bent sissy bar, and the banana seat. You can add a bullet light to that so you can ride it at night. Then there's the Aztlan Gold Continental Lowrider, that comes with a gold flat twisted continental kit with chrome classic wheel, two gold mirrors, a gold bumper, and a gold bullet light. This retails for $260. Among other styles Aztlan offers is the Birdcage custom - consists of the lowrider frmae, straight spoke wheels, a bent spring fork and sissy bar, banana seat, and a birdcage handlebar, seat post, birdcage pedals and nut covers, and a duck tail fender! This retails for $339.95! Another company is the Mega Lowrider, located in San Diego. In addition to the bikes they offer all kinds of accessories, such as a heart-shaped steering wheel, upholstery such as velour grip and pedal covers, and bolt-on items like dice, skulls, or 8-balls!
Gamertestingground. com review good or bad
I decided to write this review of GamerTestingGround after seeing what membership to the site can do for video game enthusiasts. Hopefully, after reading this short review, you’ll have a good idea of what you can expect to get out of paying for a membership and can decide whether or not it is worth your money to join. When I heard that there is a website than can show you how to make $120 and hour playing video games on my couch, I thought it had to be too good to be true. I mean, my high school guidance counselor never told me that something like that was a career option. When I looked into Gamer Testing Ground, I discovered it was completely legitimate. As it turns out, you really can make a ton of money testing out video games. Better still, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. When you think about it, the whole thing makes sense. Video game distributors want to make sure the final product that hits stores is glitch free. The people who program and create the games aren’t necessarily gamers themselves, and so they need to outsource the actual game playing to professionals. If you play enough, anyone can be a pro! This is where Gamer Testing Ground comes into play. Basically, you pay for a membership (really affordable, by the way) and you get access to a guide that tells you who is hiring. In no time, you’ll be sitting on your couch playing games all day! Some of them are unreleased, plus you can get free copies of video games, access to cheat codes and secret levels. You’ll also get real experience working with famous companies that you can put on your resume! Obviously, I highly recommend joining Gamer Testing Ground if you’re even slightly interested in playing video games for extra cash. While it sounds too good to be true, it isn’t. It’s got to be the coolest job on earth!

Remembering a few famous sports controversies
There are a great many moments in sports history that cause impassioned arguments about what really happened or what should have happened. When emotions run high, it is easy for some to slide over the line into improper behavior. Any attempt to list sports controversies will immediately hit the issue of definition. Is the O. J. Simpson trial a sports controversy because Simpson was a famous athlete? Should we restrict our list to events that directly impacted sports, such as the Pete Rose blackball, or should we be even more restrictive and stick to events that occurred specifically on the playing field, like Joe Horn’s cell phone call? It would be easy to let any such list, no matter how restrictive, grow like a weed. However, here are a few of the more interesting controversies. In the synchronized swimming event in the 1992 Olympics, Sylvie Frechette of Canada and Kristin Babb-Sprague of the US were favored. Over a series of events, scoring was close, but Ana Maria da Silviera of Brazil pushed the wrong button during one event, giving Frechette an 8.7 for a spin. Despite attempts to get this corrected, the score was displayed as it was, and under Olympic rules could not be changed. This was enough to ensure that Babb-Sprague won the gold medal. Later, a ruling gave both women the rights to wear a gold medal from this event. It is hard to beat an event where the judge herself says she was wrong. Another interesting controversy was the 1960 Olympics 100M freestyle. Lance Larsen of the US appeared to beat John Devitt of Australia to viewers, but the time said Devitt won by a tenth of a second. Six judges for the event split, three each picking Devitt and Lance as the winner. The chief judge selected Devitt and four years of appeals had no effect. The 1908 Olympic marathon is high on the poignancy list, as Dorando Pietri was the first runner to reach the stadium. He was dazed, and ran in the wrong direction. Officials corrected him, but he collapsed. He rose and fell many times before worried officials, fearing a death in front of the Queen, helped him cross the line. For receiving help to cross the line, he was disqualified. Stella Walsh, a runner competing for Poland, wins a special note for the bizarre. She ran the 100m sprint and broke three world records. In 1936, an American, Helen Stephens, won the race. Despite allegations that Stephens was a man, examination showed she was female and she was allowed to keep the gold. In 1980, Walsh, who had moved to the US, was shot to death in a robbery. An autopsy showed that Stella Walsh was a man. However, when shorn of the glow of the immediate events, and searching for the greatest sports controversies of the modern age, the winner must be the 1972 Olympic Basketball scandal. The US dominated Olympic basketball with a string of 62 straight victories, until the 1972 game. The seasoned Soviet team was ahead until three seconds were left on the clock, and the US team was able to take the 50-49 lead. The Soviet coach called for a time out, but the clock was allowed to run to one second and the US players celebrated victory. The clock was stopped at one second because the Soviet coach had called for a time out, and with one second left, the Soviet team was allowed the ball and play continued until the time ran out. The US team again celebrated, but R. William Jones, a British sports official, ruled that play would again resume with three seconds on the clock. This time the Soviet team was able to score, and play was stopped. The US appealed the odd refereeing, but the five judge panel had three communist judges, who all voted to keep the Soviet win.

Bowling lane etiquette is important
It's gained a reputation of being a game for the those without class and manners, but the truth is bowling is a an ancient sport that carries with it quite a few rules about proper behavior. These rules are taken very seriously by those who frequent the alleys, so it's a very good idea for beginners to learn a bit about the sport and its expected bowling lane etiquette. Bowling itself dates back thousands of years into the history of man. It is believed that bowling pre-dates written history. As the years marched forward, so did the game and along with it the rules of the road. From ancient man and the courts of English kings to local alleys in cities all over the world, bowling alley etiquette has evolved into what players of today expect. Learning how to behave on the lanes is as much an important part of the game as figuring out how to score correctly. There are some major dos and don'ts when it comes to bowling lane etiquette. They include: Do's * Get the proper gear. It is considered a major breach of bowling lane etiquette to wear street shoes on the lanes. Make sure to have on the proper shoes. Get rentals if you don't have your own. Street shoes can damage the lanes and disrupt the oil pattern on them (not to mention the fact many are not designed to handle the slick surface). * Observe right of way. This is perhaps the number one rule of bowling lane etiquette. The general rule of play is to allow the bowler to the right of your lane to go first if you both arrive at the same time. This helps ensure that concentration isn't interrupted by two people trying to bowl simultaneously. * Use common courtesy. Bowling is a game that many people take very seriously. Keep common courtesy and politeness in the front of your mind. Don'ts * Interrupt bowlers. It is considered a serious breach of bowling lane etiquette to talk to bowlers when they are trying to make a shot. Let the person who has the lane concentrate. * Heckle. While it might be fun to pick on a friend who has bowled a bad frame, it is considered very rude to do so, especially in league play. Remember common courtesy and this bowling lane rule will make perfect sense. * Cheat. This is a serious breach of bowling lane etiquette and something that just shouldn't be done. Keep the game clean and fun and let the pins and the score fall where they may. While it is nearly impossible to cheat with computerized scoring, some manual set ups still exist. * Talk too loud or yell. Rowdy groups on the lanes can cause problems for everyone in the vicinity. Have fun, but try to keep the ruckus to a minimum. Bowling is an ancient sport that has evolved through the years. From ancient man and stone objects to modern man and computerized scoring, the game might have changed a bit, but the basic rules of the road remain. The game is meant to be fun and it does carry with it a need for good sporting conduct.

Game ready baseball gloves
Game Ready Baseball Gloves? Hey Dad! You know what’s best, don’t let your children make the decision Soft and not durable leathers, pigskin being the most popular. Offerings from the Big 3 (Rawlings, Wilson, Mizuno) compete with style, flair and the all important impulse selection by children. These are superb for toddlers through first year t-ball where the only time these players take the mitt out is at their limited practices and games. Collateral consequences of the game ready glove is the all important two handed catch. Better known as the alligator catch. As a species, we humans will do what ever we can to minimize the energy we put into anything. We are hard-wired to conserve energy, motions and emotions. So using a superior catching machine diminishes the value of using the second hand with the subordinate result of not using it. Yes, there is success in catching the ball, but for youngsters the culmination of repetitive tasks is what gets them to the next step, Little League. You bet, all these little people want to make the plays like the Big Boys in the Show, but after thousands of hours of perfect practice and hundreds of hours in game situation play those pro’s have earned the right to get outside of the box with their movements. Not to mention they are paid big bucks to WIN and make the jaw dropping catches. Don’t get me wrong, what these guys can do is nothing short of amazing. But when you do this for a living, you spend you days chasing the tough catch. Different level of the game, greater degree of difficulty at practice. Stiffer gloves serve multiple purposes. First, you are not going to field a grounder with one hand. It takes two until the glove is broken in and by then is pretty much second nature to use two. Second, you don’t need to replace these gloves every year (or after a week hiding on the floor in the back of the family grocery getter). Third, heavier leather gloves tend to stay open with the effort being applied in the closing process. Game readies tend to stay closed where the back of the fingers are used to open the pocket, exactly backwards of how the hand wants to work. Our little leagues play to win with their hearts. Of all the people I played with we all remember our first non-vinyl glove. Many used these same gloves all through junior high and well into high school. Emotional attachments to these lumps of leather sewn together with thread and cowhide laces go deep. Our current culture has moved substantially from those of the inventors of the game. At that period of American History, the only time something was not in active use by its owner was when the worms were turning it back into the soil (and you thought recycling is a new thing). Even well into the 80’s, on rosters of continuing teams, everyone knew which glove belongs to whom at the get go of the season. This level of instant recognition is diminishing as more and more players arrive each year with a new glove. Sadly the process is pressing the once prideful ownership to a comparative of new seasons offerings and yet another trip to the store for the children to make another selection. Game ready are soft with good tact that will last a normal recreational season. Even for adults’ that plan to play in 4 or 5 games a year, these will go the distance for a couple of seasons. But if you are going to lay out $50 or $60 to get a year or two of service, why not step up to the $120’s and get a real glove that will go the distance. They catch better, feel better, last longer and you will be proud of what you posses. Even when the new models arrive, yours will still be preferred. What was that? There is no difference until you spend nearly $200. Well, it takes a bit of looking but you can get steerhide gloves from Kelley Athletics starting at $99. Custom gloves with heavier Premium cowhide are available from, from Valle $150 or NV Baseball $160. Even a Swensons at $135 What I am trying to point out is, if you have a limited budget, spend your time freely finding as many opportunities as you can. Better to have the money in your pocket than giving away for no good reason. Oh Dad, bye the way, 10 minutes on Saturday during the off season, you know between finishing breakfast and reading the paper but before the game starts, is all it takes to get your little leaguers glove ready, gives you the time to help instill good habits (butt down – hands out – watch the ball into the glove – two hands) and the time spent together, well….. priceless….. Pick yourself up with a poker game online
Every last one of us has a different kind of pick-me-up. It could be a walk in the park. It could be an outing with the family. It could even be the weekly get-together to play poker with your buddies. In my opinion, a once a week poker game can really refresh the harrowed employee. Sure, if you play badly, you may end up losing a lot of money. But that is only if you play badly. The smart poker player recognizes the role of luck and only puts forward an amount that he can afford to lose. Every seasoned poker player is aware of what the odds are even before he starts playing. How much is he willing to risk? That is a question that he must ask himself. Plunging headlong into a poker game with a bunch of professionals without having an action plan is not advisable. That would be treading dangerous ground. It is easy to call poker a game of luck, and nothing else. Yes, luck is a factor in this card game. If you are dealt bad cards, you might lose all hopes of winning the game at the very outset. Then again, a poker champ trains himself to play better than the others even with his bad cards. Poker is a game of strategy. You have to plan ahead. In that sense it is like chess. However, poker also requires a decent bit of acting. You have to fool your opponents into a sense of false security. Make them feel like they are in charge of the game even while you hold the royal flush. The sense of suspense in a poker game is one of the factors that decide the winner. If you are cool and calculating in the times of most stress, you could well be the one to walk off with the winnings. When it comes to card games, poker is one of the most popular. It does give your mind a thorough workout by literally giving it a run for your money. Being a poker champ, therefore, does not come easy. To become a poker champ, you need to practice a great deal. Make sure you thoroughly study the rules before you challenge anyone to a serious game. Try playing some online poker games to get a feel of playing against real opponents. Initially you might find yourself losing more often than you would like. But with some practice, you might just end up as the poker pro.

How a web site became a ticket to the 2008 beijing olympics
Who knew that building a web site and active online community would be the path to qualifying for the Beijing Olympic Games? Craig Harkins, the owner and operator of Fencing. Net, recently learned that he had become one of only 5,600 members of media worldwide to earn a spot in Beijing covering the Olympic Games. The Atlantan will be going to Beijing in 2008 to report on the progress of the US Olympic Fencing Team as their members attempt to improve on the Gold and Bronze medal brought back from the 2004 Athens Games. "When I was reporting on the Olympics in 2000, I was staying up late, using my Internet connection to view the fencing and relying on past interviews with the Olympians" said Craig Harkins. "After that, my goal was to make it to the next Olympics. When I learned that the USOC had awarded Fencing. Net a media credential for the Beijing Olympics, I did a little dance!" Fencing. Net has been featured in the most recent publication of the United States Fencing Association and recognizedas a key site on Olympic Fencing by Yahoo!'s Olympic guide as far back as the 2000 Games. The site, found at fencing. net/ offers a wide range of information about the sport as well as up to date news, training tips, and a thriving community site where fencers can discuss the latest news and share tips and gossip. "US Fencing is delighted to hear that fencing. net will be making the trip to Beijing. We know that the U. S. market will be provided with real-time news and interviews with the U. S. team and international athletes from across the world." said Cindy Bent Findlay, Media Coordinator for the United States Fencing Association. "Fencing. net has taken reporting on our sport to a new level and so we look forward to more great coverage from Beijing." Since 1995, Fencing. Net has provided resources for beginning fencers as well as experienced fencers looking to improve their level of competitiveness in the sport. Now the company site has extended its services to help people find fencing clubs and camps in their area and to provide the necessary equipment for participation in the sport. Harkins, who is taking a break from competitive fencing, now runs Fencing. Net as a full-time enterprise, having recently opened an online fencing equipment store at shop. fencing. net/.

Marine exhaust systems how they work
Marine exhausts systems are an important and often overlooked part of a marine engine. Most vessels have a ‘wet’ exhaust system. Salt water is injected at the riser – the outlet for exhaust from the exhaust manifold. This mixture of exhaust gas and water is then passed through a series of bends until it exits the boat, preferably at the stern. Exhaust gases mixed with salt water create a highly corrosive compound. This is why exhaust systems are commonly made using non-corrosive components such as nitrile rubber reinforced hose (brown – not green – stripe), galvanized steel, fiberglass or plastic. The purpose of these components, which vary in size and shape depending on the engine size and layout of the engine room, is to prevent hydraulicing of the engine. This is caused when an engine has filled with salt water which has entered via the exhaust and can cause extensive damage if left for more than two hours. Water enters the exhaust from wave action at stern and poor exhaust design. In some ocean conditions, such as a following sea, water can be forced back up the exhaust when the engine is not running. Poorly designed exhausts allow water to flow back and fill the waterlock/muffler box then up the hose into the exhaust manifold, through the exhaust valves and into the combustion chamber. With the engine full of water the engine cannot crank over as it is cannot compress water. You will know your engine is hydrauliced if it will not turn over – generally after a long sailing period – and you have removed the starter motor and ensured it works. To remove water from inside the combustion chambers, first remove all injectors, crank engine over to blow water out, refit injectors, bleed injector lines, and start. Then leave motor running until exhaust sorted out. Check to see that the riser is not coked up or corroded – a common problem. To check the exhaust riser remove the exhaust hose from the riser (often a difficult procedure) and look up the pipe to see if it is restricted by exhaust/salt build up. If build up is excessive the riser will have to be removed to check the engine end of the pipe. Coke can be scraped out to provide a short term fix although often the riser will have to be replaced. There are aftermarket systems which vary in quality. Make sure you fit the right design for the application. Ensure your water-lock is low enough and big enough to hold all the water in exhaust system. Is there a gooseneck or central vertical loop in the exhaust hose at the transom exit? Is there a siphon break and is it functioning properly – no leaking valves? Exhaust gas is poisonous and can cause sea sickness and headaches. Replace any faulty parts immediately. Use double hose clamps on each joint or, preferably, super clamps, bolt style, and exhaust cement if need be. Hot sections should be lagged with fiberglass tape to prevent burns. Beware of asbestos lagging. Many older vessels and marine engine installations had exhaust systems that were lagged with asbestos tape and rope. Asbestos sound-proofing was also common in older boats.
